Applications

Motorised DICOM-driven positioning — TPS to patient skin

DICOM 3.0/RT TPS workflow

The treatment planning system exports the virtual iso-centre in DICOM RT. The moving laser system reads the DICOM coordinates and drives directly to the planned position — no manual coordinate entry, no transcription error.

CT-simulator patient marking

Radiation therapist loads the TPS plan, presses go, watches the lasers drive to the planned iso-centre on the patient surface, marks the patient. The ±0.2 mm reproducibility means the same marks land in the same place every time.

Virtual iso-centre tattooing

Many plans use a virtual iso-centre offset from the patient surface. The 3- or 5-axis configuration positions the cross-hair at any offset point; tattoo the patient at that exact location.

Five-axis SBRT setup

Stereotactic body radiotherapy plans often use complex multi-axis iso-centres. The five-axis configuration handles non-orthogonal coordinate systems without requiring patient re-orientation on the couch.

Re-simulation mid-treatment

Patient anatomy changes (weight loss, oedema, gas filling) often require re-simulation. The moving system marks the new iso-centre without requiring physical adjustment of fixed lasers in the room.

Multi-modality CT-sim

A CT-sim room used for both megavoltage planning and brachytherapy planning needs flexible laser positioning. The same system serves both workflows — different iso-centre locations driven from the same control interface.

Why Saxsons Moving Laser Positioning System?

±0.2 mm
Sub-millimetre positioning accuracy

±0.2 mm accuracy is five times tighter than the AAPM TG-142 stereotactic-class 1 mm threshold. Same patient marked the same way twice ends up in the same place within ±0.2 mm. The reproducibility that virtual iso-centre tattooing absolutely requires, and that SBRT / SRS planning workflows depend on.

DICOM 3.0/RT
TPS-to-laser without transcription

The treatment planning system exports the virtual iso-centre in DICOM RT. The moving laser system reads the DICOM coordinates directly — no manual coordinate entry by the radiation therapist. The transcription-error class of failure is eliminated by removing the transcription.

1 · 3 · 5-axis
Configure to your room

A single-axis system for routine patient marking; a three-axis for standard radiotherapy workflows; a five-axis for stereotactic and complex-anatomy treatments. The same Saxsons engineering scales from the basic CT-sim to the SBRT-capable theranostic suite.
