TLDCube™Manual Portable TLD Reader

A small, lightweight thermoluminescent dosimeter reader that runs the full glow-curve cycle from a desk. Ceramic heater drives the read-out, defined nitrogen cooling stabilises the photomultiplier baseline, and a rotating drawer accepts every standard TLD shape — chip, rod, microcube — without changing hardware. Modern peak-fit software shows the glow curve and the integrated dose on the same screen. The right reader for academic dosimetry teaching, hot-lab radiopharmaceutical QC, low-volume personal-dosimetry services, archaeological dating and food-irradiation verification.

Key Features

  • Manual single-sample loading — no carousel mechanism to maintain, no proprietary cassette
  • Rotating drawer accepts every standard TLD shape: chip (3.2 × 3.2 mm), rod (1 × 6 mm), microcube (1 × 1 × 1 mm), bulb
  • Ceramic heater profile under software control — linear-ramp, two-step and isothermal regimes covered
  • Defined nitrogen cooling stabilises the photomultiplier baseline across consecutive readouts
  • Modern PC operating software — live glow-curve display, peak-fit (GCD / TGCS) algorithms, dose-integration, calibration-factor management, audit trail

Where the TLDCube is the right reader

Manual, portable, low-throughput — match the instrument to the workload

Academic dosimetry teaching

A single bench reader that lets undergraduate and postgraduate physics students see the glow curve develop in real time. Compatible with every standard TLD material so the same instrument covers introductory and advanced experiments.

Hot-lab radiopharmaceutical QC

Spot-check dosimeters for hot-lab personnel, dose-calibrator-room area dosimeters, and incoming-batch QA on TLD lots. Manual loading is the right fit when the throughput is a handful of dosimeters per shift.

Low-volume personal dosimetry

For an in-house service running tens of badges per quarter — radiotherapy planning labs, small nuclear-medicine departments, dental and veterinary radiology centres — the TLDCube's manual cycle and modest footprint match the workload without the cost or complexity of a carousel reader.

Archaeological dating

Thermoluminescent dating of ceramics, fired clay, lithics and sediments. The rotating drawer accepts the irregular sample shapes typical of archaeological work; the manual cycle suits the per-sample care these readings require.

Food-irradiation verification

EN 1788 (Eur. Stand.) protocol for verification of irradiated food by thermoluminescence of mineral debris. Spice, herb and shellfish lots — the reader pairs with the protocol's mineral-extraction step.

Inter-laboratory comparison runs

Portable form factor lets the TLDCube travel to inter-comparison sites or be used as the reference reader during round-robin TLD exercises across multiple participating labs.

Why TLDCube™?

Manual
Right-sized for the workload

Carousel-driven automatic readers are built around 20–800-element batch throughput. For laboratories running tens of badges per quarter — research dosimetry, hot-lab spot QC, dating, food-irradiation verification — a manual single-sample reader is the right cost / complexity match. No carousel to service, no proprietary cassette to consume.

All shapes
One reader, every TLD material

The rotating drawer accepts chip (3.2 × 3.2 mm), rod (1 × 6 mm), microcube (1 mm³) and bulb geometries without a hardware change. That covers LiF:Mg,Ti (TLD-100), LiF:Mg,Cu,P (TLD-100H), CaSO₄:Dy (TLD-900), Al₂O₃:C and BeO — every standard TLD material with one instrument.

Ceramic
Heating profile under software control

Ceramic-heater readout with software-controlled temperature profile gives a linear, repeatable glow-curve cycle. Defined nitrogen cooling stabilises the PMT baseline between samples — the live glow-curve display and the peak-fit (GCD / TGCS) dose evaluation share the same screen, so the dosimetrist sees both the raw signal and the integrated dose without leaving the software.
