Linac iso-centre indication
Two cross lasers and one linear laser converge at the linac iso-centre. The cross projection marks the lateral patient axes; the linear projection marks the sagittal midline. Daily QA reads each axis independently against the radiation iso-centre.
Cobalt unit iso-centre
Same laser configuration on cobalt teletherapy units. The < 0.5 mm adjustment precision is tighter than the typical cobalt-unit gantry positioning tolerance, so the lasers do not contribute to the dominant setup error.
CT-simulator marking room
Patient marking using the fixed cross / linear projection. The advanced adjustment system fine-tunes the projection without requiring full re-alignment of the head when small position corrections are needed.
Conventional simulator
Conventional X-ray simulator iso-centre indication for older planning workflows. The system serves both digital CT-sim and conventional simulator workflows from one installed laser set.
Stereotactic / SBRT setup

Q.Why does every linac / cobalt / CT-sim room need a patient-alignment laser system?
The linac isocentre is a physical point in space defined by the intersection of the beam central axis and the couch rotation axis. The therapist cannot see it. Patient-alignment lasers project three orthogonal lines (two lateral cross-hairs + one sagittal midline) that meet at the isocentre, so the therapist can align the patient's tattooed marks to the same isocentre on every fraction. Without them, day-to-day setup drifts and the tumour walks out from under the plan.
Q.What problem does < 0.5 mm ISO-centre adjustment precision actually solve?
AAPM TG-142 sets the stereotactic-class laser-to-isocentre tolerance at 1 mm. Non-stereotactic default is 2 mm. Q.Why semiconductor diode red 635 nm Class II lasers rather than older gas-tube designs?
Older gas-laser tubes drift with temperature and age — routine daily QA catches the drift, but the alignment cycle becomes frequent. Semiconductor 635 nm red Class II lasers are stable without drift and eye-safe under IEC 60825-1 Class II classification. The line is bright enough to read in the CT-sim and treatment-vault ambient lighting, and does not need a daily warm-up cycle before list start.
Q.Does the same system serve linac + cobalt + simulator + CT-sim rooms?
Yes. The fixed laser set (2 cross + 1 linear) is manufacturer-agnostic on the treatment platform — Varian TrueBeam / Halcyon / Ethos, Elekta Versa HD / Infinity, cobalt teletherapy units, conventional simulators and CT-simulators all use the same three-laser geometry.
